Erling and I went pike fihsing in Randers on a sunny but cold day. The pike where there but it took a lot of work to wake them up. Read here how to activate a cold pike.
The water looked great, a little murky but alright for a winter day in River Gudenå. We had plenty of sun to warm us and the pike up but it felt like the pike either was gone or hibernating in the deep holes. During lunch we talked about stories where fishermen where rowing around the fishing area to get the fish on the fins and then fish over it afterwards.

We then tried to fish backwards splashing a lot with our fins. Making as much noise we could and dragging the fly in the stirred water. That gave us immediate response. from under the ice on pike hit Erlings fly like a rocket, I landed one and had an other offer. All in twenty minutes before we had to head home.

It was a very cold but interesting cold water experience with the pikes.
